Mondos
The Mondos furniture collection, designed by LAUN Studio in collaboration with Chet Callahan Architects, takes inspiration from Mondos Beach in Ventura County, California, known for its beginner surf culture and welcoming atmosphere. During my time at LAUN, I contributed to the project across its full development, from initial concept sketches through final product launch. The collection includes modular sofas, a rotating armchair, coffee and side tables, and a chaise lounge, each designed to withstand the Southern California climate while maintaining visual vibrancy.
Drawing from 1980s pool and garden furniture, the collection reinterprets classic forms with bold colors, exaggerated proportions, and durable materials suited for coastal living. The oversized wheel on the chaise lounge and modular configurations for entertaining reflect the casual, spontaneous spirit of beachside life. The final prototypes debuted at Salon Gallery in New York and the Cummings Estate in Los Angeles, demonstrating the collection’s versatility across diverse coastal contexts.
