Kitchen Cosmo
Kitchen Cosmo is a hybrid culinary interface that integrates AI-powered ingredient recognition, large language models, and an analog tactile control panel to generate personalized recipes. The system collects user inputs including cooking mood, skill level, dietary preferences, available time, and portion size through an Arduino-controlled set of dials and switches. A webcam simultaneously scans available ingredients, using computer vision to identify and interpret them. These combined inputs generate customized recipes using OpenAI’s API, producing printouts via a built-in thermal printer.
The device draws from retro-futuristic design cues inspired by early visions of domestic computing, offering a screenless, embodied interaction model that emphasizes physical engagement over touchscreen interfaces. By combining AI systems with an accessible, sensory interface, Kitchen Cosmo proposes a new model for how artificial intelligence can function as a collaborative tool for home cooking, culinary education, and cultural food exploration.
